Other things to note
Skirr Cottage was the home of the acclaimed writer Henry Williamson who is best known as the author of Tarka the Otter which won the Hawthornden prize for literature in 1928.The trickling stream close by the cottage was probably the inspiration behind this great literary work.
The sofa in our lounge can be opened into a sofa bed. Which can be useful as a put me up for an extra guest or two. Being a sofa bed the mattress is thinner than on a traditional purpose bed which is why we do not list the cottage as sleeping 5. You are welcome to bring your own linen mattress and pillows if you have a guest for a stop over and wish to make the sofa bed. Please be aware though, this is a small cottage and the space is set up as comfortable for three guests – not four or five.
